Tabletop: NYC Terrace Dinner Party

This time of year, in the early evening, the weather is absolutely spectacular. The light has a warm glow, accompanied by stillness in the air. The humidity has dissipated and it has cooled off just enough to want to spend every minute outside. Last week, I took advantage of this gorgeous weather and had a dinner party for six on our terrace in NYC.

I used our view down Third Avenue as inspiration for the tabletop, incorporating simple modern details that picked up on the colors of the surroundings.  A jade plant in a terracotta pot served as the centerpiece and on either side were hurricane lanterns with chocolate colored rattan bases, as well as gold votive candle holders. Each place setting was all white with stainless steel flatware and tall red wine glasses.

With fall being just around the corner, it seemed appropriate to enjoy a Cabernet Sauvignon with a name that feels very "back to school!"
