Destination: Napa Valley

As we head into the weekend, I thought it would be fun to highlight one of my favorite destinations, the Northern CA wine country. Being that CA is where I was born and raised, I am a bit partial to all the state has to offer. Full of stunning panoramic views and lush landscapes, it is a place where one can relax, rest, rejuvenate and get a bit tipsy......

On this particular trip, Victor and I only had a day to enjoy the wine country so we kept to the Napa Valley region. Our first stop was Domaine Chandon Winery....every getaway should begin with a bit of bubbly! Victor and I are toasting to being out of the cold east coast weather.

Either for lunch or dinner, Bouchon is not to be missed. Thomas Keller of The French Laundry and Per Se, has brought us a bit of Paris in the heart of the wine country. It's a quintessential French bistro with a menu that incorporates fresh seasonal produce and boasts an extensive wine list along with a fully stocked bar...

There are so many fabulous vineyards to highlight all throughout the region...it's hard to pick a favorite.  Plum Jack is on the top of my list because it has a quaint and rustic CA feel with gravel pathways that lead you to cozy nooks where you can relax for hours. Oh, and the wine is excellent!

Here we are at Auberge du Solei.....the view of the Napa Valley is breathtaking and you feel pampered the minute you walk through their door.

A late afternoon lunch complete with local cheeses and meats along with one of their freshly baked stone oven pizzas, hits the spot.

On our last two visits, Chimney Rock has been our final stop. The architecture of the tasting room is what gets us every time. It reminds Victor of his time living in South Africa and he feels right at home. As you can see...we stayed well past closing time....

What's your destination this weekend? Whatever you have planned, hope you enjoy!
