Fitness: SurfSET Fitness

Ever wonder how you could attain a surfer girl body without getting into the water? Well, welcome to SurfSET Fitness, a new full-body workout approach with an emphasis on the core muscles utilized when surfing. It's all about ditching the traditional boring workout and aiming for one that helps lengthen the muscles, builds core strength, improves balance, creates muscle definition and burns fat.

Using surf-inspired movements, the 45 minute class is performed on the RipSurfer X, "the world's first total-body surf trainer, designed to simulate the physical demands of surfing without the ocean." Shaped like a surf-board, the RSX is 70" long X 22" wide X 11" high and has loops for resistance bands. We have not tried the workout yet, but are planning to hopefully get to a class this week or next. If classes aren't your thing then you can buy the RSX and workout at home while watching their online videos. For this CA girl who grew up surfing and now lives in NYC (and goes surfing whenever she has a chance, which sadly isn't that much these days), this is just the fitness routine that I need. It actually looks like a ton of fun with the added benefit of getting in shape.
