Last Saturday, Victor and I had the pleasure of spending time at the newly renovated Graham Hotel (the former Hotel Monticello) in Washington, DC. Located in the heart of Georgetown (right off M Street), The Graham is a luxury boutique hotel with only 57 rooms. The decor was influenced by Alexander Graham Bell who once lived in the neighborhood; it emphasizes elegant modern comfort with traditional tailored elements. It is a delightful surprise amongst the old world charm of Georgetown. Offering a stunning rooftop bar and a farm-to-table style restaurant that seats only 47 people, The Graham is not just a destination for an over night stay, but also for a night out on the town.
The rooftop bar has amazing views of Georgetown and beyond. The turquoise cushions on the wicker sofas are a great contrast to the city and are so inviting. It just beckons an afternoon with friends.
The outside bar does not currently have a specialized cocktail menu, but they will make you any drink that you are in the mood for. While we were there, a couple of locals asked the bartender, Vanessa, to create something "fruity" for them - the drink was so good, it was quickly given the name, "The Vanessa." Funny enough, we got talking with Vanessa (her first day on the job) and she grew up with the event planner who helped us with our wedding AND her boyfriend (which we did not know when we first started talking) was the one who recommended the hotel to me. It was not only until he arrived that we figured it out. Small world, huh?
As the bar started getting more crowded, we made some new friends. Loved chatting with these two fabulous girls from NJ!
After we watched the sunset, my mom joined us and we headed downstairs to their restaurant A.G.B.
The space is really intimate; with a maximum occupancy of only 40 plus people, you are very well taken care of.
We opted for some basic comfort food, but their menu offers a full array of high end creative farm-to-table choices.
If you happen to be in the DC area, I highly recommend checking out The Graham even if it is just for a drink. Have a wonderful weekend!
