Happy first day of summer y'all! I have spent the last 3 days eating and drinking my way through the Carolinas and had an absolute blast! So far we have traveled over 600 miles in a car and been to five cities! Let's just say, I have had my fair share of shrimp and grits and so many other off-the-chart delicious southern dishes!! I will be sure to share all the details next week. Feeling inspired by good old southern charm and heritage, I thought I would share a tablescape I put together a couple weeks ago for an early evening Sunday night dinner party that definitely has an air of sophisticated southern elegance.
I love having friends over on Sunday nights. There is something about coming together after a full summer weekend and ending it with great friends in a relaxed setting. Even though the mood is relaxed, you can still set an elegant table and dress things up a bit.
I created a simple palette of white and green with touches of gold to reflect the candlelight and early evening sun. The setting is a mix of vintage and heirloom pieces except for the glass hurricane candle holders and vase, which add modern elements for a more updated feel. The centerpiece plays off the natural surroundings and gives height to the table. The heirloom flatware and linens (all my grandmother's) add a southern tone. I am off to continue my journey through the south and be sure to check in later for my Thyme Lemonade recipe!! By for now y'all!!
